About the position

The Retail Store Manager at Goodwill Industries of Arkansas is responsible for overseeing store operations, ensuring that the store meets its revenue and operational goals while upholding the organization's mission to help individuals prepare for, find, and maintain employment. This role involves managing staff, maintaining a positive work environment, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The manager will also engage with the community and promote Goodwill's mission through effective leadership and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Staff all open positions with quality employees and provide clear job responsibilities and expectations.
  • Assist team members in goal setting and skills development, providing feedback on performance and attendance.
  • Meet/exceed revenue projections and contribution targets for the store, monitoring production and donations performance.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the activities of team members, scheduling employees to control payroll costs and ensure customer service.
  • Provide a clean, fun, and safe environment for employees and customers, ensuring maximum customer service for repeat sales.
  • Maintain proper displays and merchandise presentation according to standard operating procedures.
  • Manage store's loss control by monitoring customers and employees, reporting suspicious activity to Loss Prevention.
  • Monitor sales, cash management, inventory control, store merchandising, and appearance, ensuring correct sales reports are submitted.
  • Make bank deposits as needed, ensuring security during transport.
  • Maintain effective communication with support staff, planning and organizing monthly store meetings and activities.
  • Ensure regular attendance as outlined in Goodwill's attendance policy, observing safety procedures and ensuring compliance by all staff.
  • Attend regular management meetings and relay information back to staff, acting as a positive role model.
  • Ensure the store opens on time and is properly staffed and operational during designated hours.
  • Participate in local community, civic, and business organizations, being active in the local Chamber of Commerce.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on-the-job education in a specific skill area.
  • 4 years related experience and/or training, and 2 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, performing these skills using money and other forms of measurement.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations with limited standardization.
