About the position

The Retail Store Manager at New Balance is responsible for overseeing the staff, operations, and presentation of the store. This role involves inspiring the team, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining the store's strategic direction to meet sales and budget goals. The manager is expected to foster a positive work environment and uphold the company's core values of integrity, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a 'Total Customer Satisfaction' culture by ensuring your team is 100% trained on the NB GUEST service model.
  • Set the store's strategic direction to reach sales and budget goals.
  • Hire and develop staff, taking ownership of their growth and development.
  • Implement innovative strategies to boost store traffic and achieve financial targets.
  • Execute weekly and monthly business rhythms and tasks to ensure smooth store operations.
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards to keep the store looking fresh.
  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities to enhance brand presence in the community.
  • Analyze market trends with the District Manager to effectively drive sales.
  • Maintain positive employee relations and open communication throughout the store.
  • Communicate coaching strategies and conflict resolution with the District Manager.
  • Conduct regular employee performance reviews to ensure team excellence.
  • Promote and adhere to safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 3-6 years of store management experience (more may be required in high volume areas).
  • B.A. in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency with POS systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in staffing, coaching, and counseling to develop staff.
  • Knowledge of retail operations including sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control, store budget preparation, and loss prevention.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift 4 lbs. constantly; maximum 8 lbs. occasionally; kneel or squat frequently; move boxes of product up to 50 lbs (with assistance if necessary); stand for extended periods; climb ladders occasionally; climb and descend stairs frequently.
