About the position

The Retail Store Manager at Smokin Dragon Gifts is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of retail outlets, ensuring excellent customer service, managing staff, and maintaining inventory levels. This role requires a proactive approach to sales, compliance with laws and regulations, and fostering a positive work environment. The manager will also be involved in training staff, managing budgets, and enhancing the overall shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive early to open the store and prepare for the day.
  • Pull inventory for both stores weekly to maintain stock levels.
  • Check in new products and update the POS system.
  • Submit weekly reports before deadlines.
  • Handle work calls and maintain coverage even when at home.
  • Manage deposits and pick up deposit receipts.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and appraise staff.
  • Manage budgets and teach sales techniques.
  • Maintain statistical and financial records.
  • Address customer queries and complaints.
  • Oversee pricing and product control.
  • Ensure accurate inventory management.
  • Maximize profitability by setting targets and motivating staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • Prepare promotional materials and manage social media for sales.
  • Communicate clearly with the head office.
  • Protect store property and money.
  • Complete assignments in a timely manner through follow-up and coaching.
  • Create weekly schedules while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Manage overtime and scheduling issues for proper coverage.
  • Ensure stores open on time every day without interruptions.
  • Hold staff accountable in a timely manner.
  • Conduct training for new staff on their first and last days.
  • File all paperwork promptly and accurately.
  • Find new ways to maintain high morale within the workplace.
  • Assign and document keys properly.
  • Check in new products after receiving approval from the home office.
  • Report staffing issues to HR and work closely with them to maintain quality employees.
  • Manage the alarm system, including setting and disarming it.
  • Provide an amazing shopping experience and learn about products independently.
  • Perform product demonstrations for customers.
  • Provide leadership support and run the store in the owners' absence.
  • Cover the sales floor as needed and ensure visual standards are met.
  • Assist in opening and closing stores when necessary.
  • Ensure all case and light switches are operational and report any issues to the owner.
  • Process sales at the register and manage cash handling accurately.
  • Count backup bank if working after another Key Holder.
  • Run credit card detail reports and provide them with end-of-day reports.
  • Collect all store case keys when closing.
  • Prevent misuse of company property or theft.
  • Support maintenance, cleaning, and organization of store products.
  • Train and coach new sales associates to help them acclimate to the team.
  • Maintain open communication with all management and owners.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of retail management experience.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent money management skills.
  • Great problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in staffing, planning, and people management.
  • Ability to manage performance and profitability.
  • Experience in promoting sales improvement, including upselling.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the smoke shop industry (1 year preferred).
