About the position
The Retail Storekeeper 1 position is responsible for managing the gift shop at Spooner Lake State Park, performing merchandising and inventory control duties to maximize profits in a retail environment. This role includes operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, managing inventory, analyzing sales data, and ensuring the shop is clean and organized. The position requires interaction with vendors and the completion of deposits and physical inventory in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Operate and utilize the Point of Sale (POS) system to process sales.
- Manage physical inventory and analyze sales data.
- Receive merchandise and balance received orders to packing slips.
- Work directly with existing and new vendors to place product orders.
- Create new site-specific products for the gift shop.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of deposits.
- Perform physical inventory accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the gift shop and stockroom.
- Ensure product displays are attractive and shopper-friendly.
- Perform basic custodial duties.
Requirements
- One year of storekeeping or retail experience including stocking, sales, and/or customer service.
- A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
