About the position

The Retail Unit Food Manager at IKEA is responsible for overseeing the food operations within the store, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards while maximizing profitability. This role involves leading a team, developing business plans, and implementing strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and operational performance. The manager will also focus on sustainability initiatives and ensure that the food service aligns with IKEA's brand values and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and represent the IKEA Brand positively in all guest interactions.
  • Empower the IKEA Food team to meet guest needs and encourage continuous improvement.
  • Participate in creating the IKEA Food business plan for the location.
  • Collaborate with the IKEA Food Service US organization to align local needs with national priorities.
  • Develop and implement action plans to follow up on business results with the management team.
  • Oversee food operating areas in compliance with IKEA Quality and Food Safety requirements and local legislation.
  • Promote a safety-first culture among co-workers and address concerns proactively.
  • Ensure all food incidents are reported according to IKEA's protocols.
  • Maximize commerciality to grow sales, conversion rates, and profitability.
  • Ensure consistent onboarding and training for the IKEA Food team to understand their roles and impact.
  • Measure guest and co-worker satisfaction and operational performance through KPIs.
  • Grow the IKEA Food business for long-term profitability.
  • Manage KPI performance, policies, annual budget, hiring, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Act in accordance with IKEA's Sustainability Direction and contribute to waste management initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with IKEA Administration Rules & Guidelines within IKEA Food.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in leading multi-unit high-volume food service operations in QSR or Casual Dining segments.
  • Proven track record of delivering strong business performance.
  • Ability to multitask and handle changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to steer business performance and meet budgets.
  • Advanced knowledge of HACCP plans and food quality and safety systems.
  • Experience communicating with regulatory agencies and authorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in conversion optimization.
  • Leadership experience in a retail or food service environment.
