About the position

The Retirement Analyst at RWJBarnabas Health is responsible for supporting the organization's retirement programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory deadlines and guidelines. This role involves collaboration with various departments such as Payroll, Finance, and Audit, as well as retirement plan providers, to manage compliance, nondiscrimination testing, plan data, contributions, and distributions effectively and timely.

Responsibilities

  • Support RWJBH team members and internal colleagues by assisting with escalated issues and developing solutions.
  • Participate in annual plan audits and provide support for inquiries.
  • Perform monthly allocation reports for Finance.
  • Audit and support quarterly calculations of the retirement plan's non-elective contributions.
  • Review and process monthly invoices for retirement plan providers.
  • Coordinate and review annual nondiscrimination testing.
  • Track annual company contributions, including projections for qualified and non-qualified retirement plans.
  • Support inquiries with the defined benefit plan and analyze data for accuracy.
  • Review vendor SOC1 reporting and work with plan vendors and auditors as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure plan information on the employee intranet is up to date.
  • Serve as the primary respondent for internal inquiries through the internal portal MSP.
  • Collaborate with internal partners (in accounting, treasury, audit, etc.) and plan providers to oversee compliance and implement control updates and process improvements.
  • Coordinate with various recordkeepers for distribution requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
  • Advanced MS Excel and Query skills; PeopleSoft experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to gain retirement and benefits expertise through certification coursework and independent learning.
  • Highly analytical mindset with a general understanding of ERISA tax law, retirement administration, and compliance.
  • Strong aptitude and knowledge of Excel with the ability to generate, modify, and recreate workbooks (e.g., Pivot tables, v-look-up, formulas, reporting, graphing).
  • Strong knowledge and extensive experience with retirement administration and analysis for plan design, modification, and administration.
  • Ability to demonstrate judgment, qualitative, quantitative, and analytical skills to highlight and summarize key data findings.
  • Align with overall Retirement Team objectives to partner on retirement administration and project work.
  • Call awareness to identified retirement process efficiencies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum 2+ years benefits experience with a retirement focus.
  • Retirement Plan certification (CRP, CEBS, RPA, etc.) preferred.
