About the position

The Retirement and Financial Wellness Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the retirement and financial wellness programs at The University of Kansas Health System. This position involves providing professional, technical, and administrative support, ensuring accurate eligibility and enrollment for participants, and assisting with the preparation of plan documents. The specialist will also respond to employee inquiries regarding retirement benefits and coordinate educational initiatives to promote financial wellness among employees.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares plan documents including notices and amendments, and manages participant communications.
  • Reviews withdrawals, distributions, and loan requests from retirement plans.
  • Manages inbound and outbound files with Third Party administration, reconciles contribution files, and conducts quarterly audits of retirement plans.
  • Assists with plan design regarding participants, eligibility, matching vesting, and withdrawals.
  • Ensures accurate eligibility and enrollment of participants and verifies contribution levels based on years of service.
  • Handles administration, audit, and compliance testing requirements for retirement plans.
  • Explains retirement benefit plan policies, procedures, and legal requirements to employees and beneficiaries.
  • Responds to retirement and financial wellness questions from employees.
  • Corresponds with vendors to resolve issues related to retirement plans.
  • Facilitates conversations on financial wellness and promotes financial literacy among employees.
  • Develops an annual financial wellness and retirement education calendar to enhance participant engagement.
  • Maintains up-to-date industry knowledge through reading and attending educational seminars.
  • Collaborates with other departments for program administration and with communication teams to create employee-facing materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 3 or more years of experience in the administration of retirement plans and/or financial wellness programs.
