About the position

At HNTB, we are looking for a creative individual to join our team as a Graphic Design Intern. This position is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the creation of digital assets that play a crucial role in our proposals, presentations, public relations, and internal communications. As a Graphic Design Intern, you will be responsible for producing a variety of print and digital materials that effectively communicate our messages and enhance our brand image. You will work closely with senior staff to develop concepts and designs that align with our strategic goals and objectives. This role is ideal for current or previous HNTB interns who are eager to further their experience in graphic design and digital asset creation. In this position, you will create print and digital materials for proposals, including templates, charts, maps, infographics, covers, and layouts. You will also be tasked with developing materials for presentations, such as PowerPoints, leave-behinds, and display boards. Additionally, you will create materials for public relations and internal communications, including brochures, advertisements, and announcements. Your role will involve drafting concepts for visually communicating key messages and organizing digital assets like icons, photography, and stock graphics. You will assist in coordinating with print vendors and photographers to ensure high-quality production of materials. Other duties may be assigned as needed, providing you with a well-rounded experience in the field of graphic design.

Responsibilities

  • Creates print and digital materials for proposals, including templates, charts, maps, infographics, covers and layout.
  • Creates print and digital materials for presentations, including PowerPoints, leave-behinds, and display boards.
  • Creates print and digital materials for PR and internal communications, including brochures, ads, and announcements.
  • Drafts concepts for visually communicating key messages.
  • Files and organizes digital assets such as icons, photography, and stock graphics.
  • Assists in coordinating with print vendors and photographers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Art, Graphic Design or related field, or 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
  • Fundamental proficiency in using InDesign and other graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator), with guidance from more senior staff.
  • Proficient in converting large amounts of data or information into visual illustrations with guidance from senior staff.
  • Creatively translating information by assessing problems and conveying visual solutions with guidance from more experienced staff.
  • Developing basic PowerPoint or Keynote presentation templates, with guidance from senior staff.
  • Understanding of basic typography including application of line lengths, tracking, and leading in order to maximize legibility.
