About the position
The Returning Resident Advisor (RA) for the 2025-2026 academic year is a live-in, paraprofessional staff member responsible for fostering an inclusive and supportive community within university residence halls. The RA will work closely with students and staff to promote academic success, personal development, and diversity through community living. This position requires a commitment to student engagement and administrative support within the residential community.
Responsibilities
- Participate in an on-call rotation for the community, including some campus breaks.
- Assist in the administrative operations of the community under the supervision of a Hall Director.
- Create an inclusive community through intentional programming focusing on professional and social development.
- Work autonomously and hold peers accountable for community standards.
- Work up to 24 hours per week as a Desk Service Assistant or up to 20 hours at another on-campus job.
Requirements
- Must be a full-time student (minimum of 12 credits for undergraduates; 9 credits for graduate students).
- Must have a minimum of two semesters of on-campus living at Ferris State University or one complete semester for transfer students within the last 5 years.
- Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University.
- Must maintain a schedule ensuring student contact, particularly during evenings and weekends.
- Must attend weekly staff meetings and department training on Mondays from 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm.
