About the position

The Revenue Accountant at Robert Half will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely recognition of revenue for the company's SaaS offerings in compliance with ASC 606. This position requires collaboration with various teams to maintain compliance with revenue recognition standards and support both internal and external reporting needs.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret customer contracts and sales agreements to ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 guidelines.
• Identify performance obligations, transaction prices, and contract costs in customer agreements.
• Analyze variable consideration (e.g., discounts, rebates, or penalties) and determine its impact on revenue recognition.
• Monitor and track deferred revenue, ensuring proper allocation and revenue recognition over the subscription or contract period.
• Maintain detailed records of revenue recognition schedules, journal entries, and other accounting documentation.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures for revenue, including preparation of revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and reports.
• Ensure that revenue transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare and analyze monthly revenue reports and provide explanations for significant variances to management.
• Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements related to revenue and deferred revenue balances.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused on revenue accounting and ASC 606 in a SaaS or technology environment.
• In-depth knowledge of ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers).
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other analytical tools.
