About the position

The Revenue Accounting Lead at Google Cloud is responsible for overseeing the accounting processes related to revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with US GAAP principles, particularly ASC 606. This role involves leading end-to-end accounting processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve financial reporting, and managing risk associated with business transactions. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can navigate complex financial landscapes and drive continuous improvement in accounting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the accounting/operational flow of business transactions from Order to Cash to envision, design and support reporting of business, including the external disclosures of remaining performance obligations under ASC 606.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to define and establish scalable processes to address financial reporting needs and lead continuous process improvement for business generation and reporting of remaining performance obligations.
  • Recognize potential areas of risk and develop risk management strategies for new/existing business offerings and go to market strategies.
  • Identify and mitigate risks of the business generation processes and reporting to enhance, implement, and monitor controls (including those in SOX scope).
  • Be responsible for internal and external reporting, variance and other analysis prepared for executive management. Manage data consistency across various booking and reporting systems and be responsible for related IPE testings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience in US GAAP accounting principles with experience in revenue accounting (e.g., ASC 606).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP, SQL, or Python.
  • Experience improving business processes and systems, with a proven ability to grow in ambiguity.
  • Ability to have attention to detail, organizational skills, and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead and drive complex initiatives cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment across a large, complex, global organization.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with executive management.
