About the position

The Revenue Cycle Analyst plays a crucial role in the financial health of Gundersen Health System by providing in-depth analysis and reporting on revenue cycle operations. This position operates under minimal supervision, requiring a high level of independence and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data sets. The analyst will be responsible for both periodic and ad hoc reporting, ensuring that the information generated is actionable and supports the organization's goals. The role involves applying Lean techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in revenue cycle processes. In this position, the analyst will prepare financial and statistical analyses, create graphs, and develop presentation materials to support various Revenue Cycle personnel, including directors, managers, and supervisors. The analyst will also collaborate with cross-functional project teams to ensure timely completion of projects, pulling data from Qlikview to provide insights on avoidable write-offs, denial trends, and payer information. This data is essential for Managed Care contract negotiations and for addressing claim issues that may hinder payment resolution. The Revenue Cycle Analyst will also be tasked with interpreting and converting data into usable information, identifying necessary data to establish baselines and measure changes. This includes developing analyses and reports that support revenue cycle initiatives, evaluating the financial impact of strategic initiatives, and monitoring progress. Recommendations for process improvements will be made based on data analysis, and the analyst will coordinate with revenue cycle supervisors and management to identify performance improvement opportunities. Additional responsibilities may include other job-related tasks as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares financial and statistical analyses, graphs, and presentation materials, and provides ad hoc analytical support for a variety of Revenue Cycle personnel, directors, managers and supervisors.
  • Provides support to cross-functional project teams to ensure on-time completion while assisting Revenue Cycle in meeting organizational goals and objectives.
  • Pulls Qlikview reporting data for clinical leaders and Revenue Cycle leaders on avoidable write-offs, denials trends and payer information.
  • Provides payer data that will help assist Managed Care in contract negotiations, as well as, payer meetings to communicate claim issues that will resolve in payment resolution.
  • Provides additional data to clinical and Revenue Cycle departments to improve internal processes to prevent denials and avoidable write-offs.
  • Interprets, analyzes and converts data into usable information, identifying the data necessary to establish the baseline and measure the change.
  • Develops analyses and reports to support revenue cycle initiatives, including financial evaluation of strategic initiatives and ongoing monitoring of progress.
  • Effectively develops and presents recommendations to supervisors/management based on data analysis.
  • Coordinates with revenue cycle supervisors/management to identify revenue cycle performance improvement opportunities.
  • Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Business or Healthcare Administration or a related field required.
  • 1 year of experience in financial analysis or related field required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5-7 years of experience in financial analytics in a healthcare environment.
