The MGB CP Business Analyst is responsible for providing support to Epic users in the MGB Community Physicians organization. This role involves analyzing the business requirements of CP sites to deliver support related to Epic functions and workflows of the Revenue Cycle, including Professional Billing and Registration and Scheduling (Resolute, Cadence, and Grand Central applications). The Business Analyst will assist with new implementation activities and revenue cycle-related projects. Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality service to users, according to defined service level agreements.
  • Support and educate end users on Epic Revenue Cycle functions and workflows.
  • Answer end user 'how-to' questions related to Professional Billing and other Revenue Cycle activities.
  • Understand user requirements; translate them to functional requirements and assist end user with workflow adaptation.
  • Assist in identifying and recommending best practices for business functions and clearly articulating recommendations verbally and in writing.
  • Identify and resolve issues and facilitate appropriate escalation for timely resolution.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss team and project/program related activities, issues, changes, and assist with crafting communication as needed.
  • Create and run reports as needed using tools such as Epic Reporting Workbench.
  • Adhere to recognized project management tools and methodologies.
  • Communicate status on various project/program efforts to leadership, internal stakeholders and manage expectations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project documentation, work plans, issue logs, current and future state design documents.
  • Document and analyze business processes and workflows to drive business process improvements and ensure accurate system configuration.
  • Where possible, identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with the software.
  • Assist with defining reporting requirements and tool mapping based on reporting package offerings.
  • Assist with processes for the implementation and onboarding of sites to the Professional Billing and Cadence modules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, IT, Healthcare, or related required.
  • At least 5 years of healthcare IT experience with a knowledge of revenue cycle required.
  • Ideally 5+ years of experience with professional billing/medical billing highly preferred.
  • Build and implement Professional Billing solutions experience a plus.
  • Epic Professional Billing certification is a plus.
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements.
  • Experience with MGB or other instances of Epic Revenue Cycle applications, including Professional Billing required.
  • Must possess the ability to assist end users with work queues for claim review, claim edit, follow up, remittance and credit work queues.
  • Experience with Grand Central and Cadence - or other enterprise scheduling/registration systems a plus.
  • Experience in end user management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle workflows.
  • Extensive Professional Billing/Medical Billing experience.
  • Ability to effectively translate business requirements to functional requirements.
  • Possess strong people skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization including both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Candidate should have both system implementation experience and hands-on operational experience in Physician Practice Professional Billing process.
  • Ability to effectively conduct meetings, both formal and informal.
  • Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels within and external to the organization.
