About the position

The Revenue Cycle Research Billing Analyst at TCHHN plays a crucial role in providing financial administrative support for research activities. This position ensures accurate billing for clinical trial participants, adhering to federal regulations to maintain compliance and mitigate financial and legal risks. The analyst coordinates research finance and billing responsibilities for both sponsored and federally funded trials, ensuring adherence to Medicare Coverage Analysis and other regulatory policies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors charge capture, collaborating with clinicians and revenue cycle staff to confirm captured charges for research activities are accurate, timely, and agree with Medicare Coverage Analysis, sponsor budget, applicable billing rules, and approved fee schedules and/or price lists.
  • Builds and updates study records, collaborating with Billing, Patient Access, Charge Master, and Coding to ensure patients are accurately identified as study participants.
  • Acts as an escalated resource for revenue cycle business office staff to resolve billing questions about charges that should be billed directly to study participants or their insurers.
  • Primary point of contact for non-Lindner research studies for price quotes, IRB approval, coordination with Revenue Cycle and Finance departments, and Epic Research study build.
  • Responsible for achieving and/or maintaining key performance indices for service, such as keeping Epic billing queue and/or Accounts Receivable within department standards.
  • Analyzes and provides recommendations in Medicare Coverage Analysis on clinical trials to determine qualifying status and billable events, assisting in tracking and confirming annual renewals and protocol amendments.
  • Keeps abreast and knowledgeable of current healthcare regulations relating to clinical research and Epic changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 2-4 years of related research, coding, or medical billing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical research revenue cycle processes.
  • Working knowledge of CPT coding and charging, ICD10 codes, medical terminology, billing rules, and CMS regulatory requirements for research billing.
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of departments and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Experienced in Epic, MS Excel, and MS Word.
