About the position

The Revenue Fiscal Analyst 2 position involves conducting detailed financial and tax accounting analyses related to Personal Income Tax returns and Voluntary Compliance Initiative programs. The role requires proficiency in understanding both business and data perspectives of the Department of Revenue systems, ensuring compliance with tax laws, and providing technical guidance to bureau employees. The analyst will also identify new problem areas for examination and assist in the implementation of enforcement programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary analyst for legislative and fiscal issues related to Voluntary Compliance Initiative programs.
• Act as a back-up analyst for sales tax, pass-through entities, and corporation taxes.
• Analyze the effectiveness of specialized examination programs to ensure compliance with laws.
• Interpret tax laws and provide technical guidance to bureau employees.
• Identify new problem areas for potential examination and analysis.
• Develop and assist in the implementation of enforcement programs.

Requirements

• One year as a Revenue Fiscal Analyst 1; or
• Two years of experience in fiscal analysis and a master's degree in economics, business administration, statistics, mathematics, or computer science; or
• Three years of technical experience in fiscal analysis and a bachelor's degree including thirty credits in economics, statistics, mathematics, and/or computer science; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Nice-to-haves

• At least one year of working experience enforcing tax rules and regulations related to sales and use tax.
