About the position

The Revenue Integrity Analyst I - Charge Capture is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of charge capture processes within the hospital and professional chargemasters. This role involves facilitating proper billing and adjudication of claims in accordance with established policies and coding standards. The analyst will utilize clinical expertise and analytical skills to resolve billing issues and will also provide training to clinical partners to maintain charge accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain hospital and professional chargemasters for accuracy and completeness.
  • Facilitate proper charge capture, billing, and adjudication of claims according to standard policies and coding practices.
  • Conduct charge capture audits to identify and resolve billing issues.
  • Train clinical partners on maintaining charge accuracy and billing procedures.
  • Recommend items for chargemaster inclusion based on clinical applications and coding guidelines.
  • Perform annual and quarterly chargemaster updates and ensure documentation of charges.
  • Prepare reports for the Revenue Cycle team to ensure compliance and appropriate reimbursement of charges.
  • Assist interdepartmental teams in troubleshooting accounts held in A/R due to discrepancies.
  • Communicate with care providers regarding documentation opportunities and requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Completion of a recognized course of study for health information practitioners or coding specialists preferred.
  • Certification in CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or specialty coding required, or certification required within 6 months of hire if current RN.
  • At least 3 years of experience in hospital/professional charge capture review and claims auditing.
  • Minimum 3 years of coding experience required.
  • Strong understanding of coding rules and regulations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to meet productivity standards and deadlines under pressure.
  • Effective at adjusting to change and prioritizing duties.
