About the position

The Revenue Integrity Auditor plays a crucial role in ensuring that billing practices are compliant with documentation and applicable regulations. This position involves conducting detailed audits of charges, collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate charge capture, and addressing any discrepancies in billing. The auditor serves as a liaison to resolve concerns and provide education on best practices, contributing to the overall financial integrity of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed audits of charges to ensure compliance with documentation and regulations.
  • Collaborate with departments such as HIM, case management, and patient access for accurate charge capture.
  • Handle the unbilled report for charge errors and process necessary corrections.
  • Communicate findings regarding charge discrepancies with appropriate departments.
  • Work closely with HIM and Shared Service Center to ensure timely billing of patient accounts.
  • Serve as a liaison to resolve identified concerns and provide education and recommendations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associates Degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.
  • Additional training/experience in medical terminology, coding systems, and chart auditing is highly recommended.
  • Working understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and Third Party Payor rules and regulations is necessary.
  • Three years of working knowledge of healthcare financial processes and regulations is required; previous experience in financial auditing is preferred.
