About the position

The Revenue Integrity Clinical Charge Analyst RN plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of patient charges by reviewing medical records and facility protocols. This position involves providing educational support to facility staff regarding billing issues, analyzing denial trends, and serving as a liaison between various departments to enhance revenue opportunities. The role also includes responsibilities during the implementation of Meditech Expanse, focusing on charge mapping, compliance monitoring, and ongoing education related to charging practices.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the appropriateness of patient charges by reviewing medical records and facility protocols.
  • Provide charge review results and develop educational in-services for facility staff related to charging and billing issues.
  • Review denial trends for documentation and charging opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison between facilities Administration, Shared Services Center, and ancillary department directors regarding charging issues.
  • Monitor charging practices across all facilities, including charge reviews and remedial training.
  • Provide education and training to Facility Departments on Charge Reconciliation reporting.
  • Work directly with Facility Department Directors to develop chargemaster and charging practices for new service lines.
  • Coordinate updates with Ancillary Departments as necessary.
  • Review Regulatory and Compliance Communications and implement changes to Revenue Integrity procedures as needed.
  • Support the Corporate RI team on special projects, charge reviews, and patient audits.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse Degree required.
  • Minimum 1 year directly related Healthcare experience required.
  • Knowledge of CPT/HCPCS codes or experience in charging or performing charging validation reviews preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Meditech Expanse implementation.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising between departments.
