About the position

The Rewards and Wellbeing Manager at Deloitte is responsible for providing strategic and technical consulting services related to employee benefits for plan sponsors, including employers and municipal governments. This role focuses on building strong client relationships, managing health plan strategies, and ensuring compliance with industry standards while leading a team of junior consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for ongoing clients or lead project manager for specific projects.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service.
  • Prepare self-insured financial projections and support health plan management, including financial reporting, premium rate setting, and employee contributions.
  • Conduct employee benefits studies, including benchmarking and modeling alternative designs.
  • Develop comprehensive benefits strategies, including plan offerings and design.
  • Manage RFP processes for medical, dental, pharmacy, life, and disability programs, including development, administration, proposal evaluation, vendor selection, negotiation, and implementation.
  • Review and negotiate premium rate/administrative fee renewals.
  • Advise clients on industry trends, best practices, regulatory updates, and compliance deadlines.
  • Evaluate vendors by reviewing services, contracts, performance guarantees, and renewals.
  • Analyze claims utilization data and assess health plan performance against strategy.
  • Act as an extension of the HR team, assisting with ad hoc requests or issues.
  • Prepare client presentations and reports.
  • Serve as a project manager to train and mentor junior team members.
  • Engage in general health & welfare consulting activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 6+ years of experience in consulting or brokerage in U.S. health/welfare benefits.
  • 2+ years of experience in underwriting beyond basic model usage.
  • 4+ years of experience managing multiple projects/clients simultaneously.
  • 4+ years of demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with specific expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or a related field with strong mathematical content.
  • Knowledge of additional U.S. health & welfare benefit plans (e.g., life, disability, dental).
  • Familiarity with the financial components of pharmacy benefit manager contracts.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Total Rewards programs (compensation, retirement).
  • Progress in actuarial exams.
