About the position

The RF/Analog/Digital Test Engineer will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and modifying electronic hardware, particularly in the context of tactical radio accessory products. This role requires a solid understanding of both electrical and mechanical engineering principles and involves collaboration with design engineers and manufacturing staff. The engineer will utilize various test and measurement equipment to ensure the performance and reliability of radio systems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain methods of testing and troubleshooting equipment and systems.
  • Perform engineering RF/analog/digital design and measurement tasks as well as operational tests and fault isolation on radio systems.
  • Use a variety of test and measurement equipment to evaluate radio equipment performance.
  • Support troubleshooting of existing/new products in the manufacturing facility.
  • Perform engineering tests, detailed experimental testing, or operational tests and fault isolation on boards, systems, and equipment with guidance from engineering.
  • Conduct electrical and/or mechanical troubleshooting to determine root causes of problems in equipment.
  • Use test and diagnostic equipment to perform checks.
  • Utilize the company order entry system to order cables, attenuators, and other ancillary items.
  • Build cables, fixtures, and ancillary hardware.
  • Repair radio and equipment.
  • Track radio and other development assets.
  • Support field test, engineering, and other organizational technician needs.
  • Support entry of items (BOMs, ECOs, ECRs) into Division CM System (Agile).
  • Perform board level modifications including changing components and simple board building from schematics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Technology or a 2-year degree with equivalent experience.
  • PWB level modification and build experience (SMT devices, removal, soldering).
  • Fixture design and assembly experience (basic mechanical skills).
  • Measurement of key performance parameters using analyzers, generators, oscilloscopes, and meters.
  • Expertise in evaluation of designs for testability; working knowledge of the fundamentals of In-Circuit Test (ICT), functional board level testing, unit and system level testing, coverage analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (email, report, documentation, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • IPC-610, IPC-620, and IPC-7711/7721 Certification preferred.
  • Cable building and repair experience desired.
  • Understanding of software defined radio products and communications.
  • Experience with automation systems including electronic test.
