About the position

The RF and Network Analysis Engineer for Regulatory at SpaceX will play a crucial role in supporting the Starlink project, which aims to provide advanced broadband internet globally. This position involves applying technical expertise to navigate the regulatory landscape, ensuring compliance and advocacy for the satellite internet service. The engineer will focus on technical analyses related to radio frequency interference and spectrum coordination, contributing to the strategic direction of Starlink's licensing and regulatory efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical analyses pertaining to radio frequency interference and satellite spectrum coordination.
  • Model Starlink and other non-geostationary satellite's operational topology and hardware.
  • Simulate various scenarios considering regulatory constraints, geographic constraints, RF link budgets, constellation growth, customer growth, and coordination strategies.
  • Analyze network and user experience impacts based on simulation results and make recommendations on satellite policy and coordination strategy.
  • Provide strategic regulatory recommendations and advocacy support to business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.
  • Experience in MATLAB, Python, C++ or other tools for modeling and analyzing RF systems.
  • 1+ years of research, design, development, or regulatory experience in the RF and/or antenna domain (internship, thesis, or extracurricular work is applicable).

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic understanding of satellite hardware and orbital mechanics.
  • Experience with Visualyse.
  • Experience in modeling large non-geostationary satellite constellations.
  • Experience in satellite network simulation development and analysis.
  • Experience with RF topics in satellite communications, including link budgets, antenna theory and design, and interference analysis.
