About the position

LMI is seeking a skilled RF Electrical Engineer in Pearl Harbor, HI, to support shipyard modernization efforts as part of U.S. Navy strategic initiatives. The role involves providing on-site RFID technical expertise to ensure the successful operation of electronic systems and components, contributing to the improvement of logistics processes through advanced technology.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the workflow and workforce, providing directions and recommendations as necessary.
  • Develop strategies and plans to improve site efficiency, produce progress reports, and coordinate with other workers.
  • Provide on-site passive Radio Frequency Identification (pRFID) technical expertise and support for electronics and system-of-systems components.
  • Research, design, develop, or test electronic components and systems for various applications using knowledge of electronic theory and materials properties.
  • Design electronic circuits and components for telecommunications and control systems.
  • Oversee installation staff and manage efforts of all assigned personnel for specific jobs.
  • Recommend and implement hardware, infrastructure, and installation configurations based on facility features and constraints.
  • Develop and analyze communications protocol requirements considering bandwidth, latency, frequency, proximity, and payload.
  • Support the development of new wireless communications protocols to enhance logistics processes.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot systems and components, identifying and mitigating sources of interference and noise.
  • Use RF engineering tools and techniques to optimize system performance.
  • Provide engineering support, optimization recommendations, and troubleshooting for fielded products and infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement test and qualification procedures for wireless communication and data collection systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in Electronics or Electrical Engineering and field support.
  • Understanding of IoT, RFID, and network engineering.
  • Knowledge of deployment considerations and facility nuances.
  • Familiarity with RF hardware systems and testing equipment.
  • Professional and detail-oriented work ethic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills.
  • Active Secret clearance preferred; only candidates eligible for a Secret level clearance will be considered.
