About the position

The RF Engineer position at Ampcus Inc. involves designing and modifying RF systems for small cell clusters and macro solutions. The role requires collaboration with project management, construction, and real estate teams to ensure compliance with FCC standards and successful project execution. The engineer will utilize tools like Atoll for site design and modifications, and will be responsible for regulatory submissions and E911 accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Create polygons for small cell clusters and search rings for macro solutions based on capacity or modification lists.
  • Review designs with system performance and update Atoll with requested changes.
  • Notify the Project Manager of new nodes or changes created to the design.
  • Create a Fuze project per site and/or node with specific information for Real Estate.
  • Work directly with Real Estate on prioritizing candidates and attend implementation meetings prior to site walks.
  • Attend site walks on the best candidates and finalize all details.
  • Complete tasks in Fuze under Candidate Selection as needed.
  • Finalize modification and carrier add designs.
  • Complete tasks under RFDS Selection including adding the final design.
  • Complete outstanding regulatory items and documents as needed, including Atoll final updates and 911 submissions.
  • Learn to use RAVE and IXUS, or have knowledge of RF Safety tools.
  • Read and understand third-party EME studies and work on Land Lord Letters.
  • Assign Cell ID and PCIs for macro/small cells and enter in Atoll, creating CQ for building the site using internal tools.
  • Check the accuracy of Atoll prior to submitting E911 and follow up on TVW creation.
  • Work with the performance team to understand design restrictions on loading or rent increases.
  • Use Atoll daily to create new builds and modifications to existing cell sites, updating sites with correct translations, power settings, and equipment activation.
  • Review the 48-hour milestone status when As Built data differs from Design and work with Construction on discrepancies.
  • Activate in all tools as needed, especially in Atoll.
  • Collaborate daily with project management, construction, and real estate to resolve problems or questions.

Requirements

  • Experience with Atoll, including creating new sites, copying old sites, and adding carriers.
  • RF design experience in Macro Mods and initial builds for small cells and macros.
  • C-Band design experience.
  • Understanding of FCC compliance standards and regulatory submissions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Fuze SPM, Conquest for RF CQ, Fuze Planning/Canvas, and Fuze Reporting.
  • Familiarity with IXUS RF Safety Software or other EME reporting tools.
  • Experience with MapInfo or ArcGIS mapping tools for presentations.
  • Understanding of 5G C-Band spectrum.
