About the position

The RF Systems/Hardware Engineer will provide engineering analysis, baseline management, operations and maintenance, system enhancement, and integration support for a high-priority operational communications system. This role is crucial for ensuring the successful operation and sustainment of hardware, establishing requirements for new software and hardware enhancements, and refining operational processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering analysis and baseline management for RF systems.
  • Ensure successful operation, maintenance, and sustainment of hardware associated with operational communications systems.
  • Establish requirements for new software and system hardware enhancements.
  • Support new capabilities development and refinement of operational processes.
  • Troubleshoot, document, and resolve system outages and issues during operation.
  • Collect diagnostic data and document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
  • Restore system operation and develop workarounds as necessary.
  • Utilize analytic devices such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for troubleshooting.
  • Monitor equipment functioning and make modifications to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Support the generation of concept of operations and provide recommendations for system architecture.

Requirements

  • Prior experience supporting Operations and Maintenance (O&M) RF ground systems engineering activities for a satellite communications system.
  • Proficient use of Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Oscilloscopes.
  • Experience generating, analyzing, tracking, and managing requirements.
  • Experience with RF systems engineering, including developing and maintaining schematics and design review packages.
  • Ability to apply previous knowledge to recommend new operational concepts and increase efficiencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Active TS/SCI CI Poly clearance.
  • Ability to work at heights and complete safety requirements for antenna/tower training.

  • Experience working with vendors for timely repair and tracking of critical operational hardware.
  • Experience upgrading hardware supported by Windows and Linux based systems.
  • Previous experience working with systems supported by Linux operating systems.
