About the position

The RF Systems/Hardware Engineer at ITEC is responsible for providing engineering analysis, baseline management, operations and maintenance, system enhancement, and integration support for a complex operational communications system. This role involves ensuring the successful operation and maintenance of hardware, establishing requirements for new software and hardware enhancements, and refining operational processes. The engineer will troubleshoot system outages, document issues, and support data analysis for system capabilities and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering analysis and baseline management for RF systems.
  • Ensure successful operation, maintenance, and sustainment of hardware for operational communications systems.
  • Establish requirements for new software and hardware enhancements.
  • Support the development and refinement of operational and engineering processes.
  • Troubleshoot, document, and resolve system outages and issues.
  • Collect diagnostic data and document problems in logging tools.
  • Restore system operation and develop workarounds as necessary.
  • Utilize analytic devices for troubleshooting and monitoring equipment.
  • Support the generation of concept of operations and provide recommendations for system architecture.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, physics, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in RF ground systems engineering activities for satellite communications systems.
  • Proficient use of Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Oscilloscopes.
  • Experience generating, analyzing, tracking, and managing requirements.
  • Experience with RF systems engineering, including schematics and design review packages.
  • Ability to apply knowledge for developing new operational concepts and increasing efficiencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work at heights and complete safety requirements for antenna/tower training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with vendors for hardware repair and tracking.
  • Experience upgrading hardware supported by Windows and Linux systems.
  • Previous experience with systems supported by Linux operating systems.
