About the position

Skyworks is seeking an RF Validation Engineer to join our dynamic Mobile Solutions team in Irvine, CA. In this pivotal role, you will contribute significantly to the launch of new products by ensuring they meet defined performance and functionality standards, as well as our customers' performance expectations. This position is part of a collaborative, multi-discipline engineering community that thrives on teamwork and innovation, working across various domestic design centers to create cutting-edge products for global markets. As an RF Validation Engineer, you will be paired with a mentor who will guide you as you become an integral part of a team responsible for designing custom parts. Your responsibilities will encompass writing validation plans based on marketing and product requirements, specifying and configuring laboratory test benches, and automating validation and characterization test flows through software and scripting. You will also support the initial product bring-up and debugging processes, characterize product performance across various parameters, and correlate results with simulations. In addition to reporting performance to broader design teams, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide updates on project status and progress. You will assist Design Engineers in developing engineering MCMs and PCBs, including schematic capture, layout review, and the creation of test fixtures. This role is high-impact and requires a proactive approach in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Write validation plans based on marketing and product requirements and specifications
  • Specify and configure laboratory test benches
  • Automate validation and characterization test flows through software and scripting
  • Support initial product bring up and debug
  • Characterize product performance across process, voltage and temperature and correlate with simulations
  • Report performance to the broader design teams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and report project status/progress
  • Assist Design Engineers in developing engineering MCMs and PCBs (schematic capture, layout review) and test fixtures

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5 years of experience in RF validation or related field
  • Good understanding of RF parameters like Gain, NF, intermodulation products, VSWR, S-Parameters, load and source-pull systems
  • Experience with cellular systems, bands, tests, and 2G/3G/4G related specifications
  • Familiarity with testing, evaluation, and debugging RF, analog, and mixed-signal IC designs in a lab environment
  • Proficient in the use of network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes
  • Experience setting up and running bench and automated tests with various RF equipment
  • Experience working with evaluation boards and automated test setups including board-level rework
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to a wide range of audiences
  • Resourceful and proactive problem-solving skills
  • Experience running cadence circuit simulations for die and HFSS simulations for MCM/PCB is a plus
