About the position

The Senior Health & Science Specialist (SHSS) at Pfizer is a pivotal role responsible for the sales and promotion of both existing and new products within the gastroenterology and rheumatology therapeutic areas. This position requires a deep understanding of the market dynamics, formulary access, and the ability to engage effectively with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs). The SHSS will utilize a systematic approach to customer engagement, employing both virtual and in-person strategies to maximize impact and effectiveness. This includes developing and implementing business and territory call plans that adapt to self-identified opportunities and insights, ensuring that all interactions are methodical and goal-oriented. In this role, the SHSS will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with customers across various environments, utilizing digital tools such as Veeva Engage, Zoom, and Microsoft Office to facilitate communication and engagement. The specialist will also be tasked with providing education to HCPs that aligns with their needs, thereby driving product demand and influencing prescribing behaviors. This involves leveraging product and disease state knowledge to deliver targeted messaging and utilizing analytics to inform strategic decisions. The SHSS will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Field Medical and Reimbursement, to address customer inquiries and advance Pfizer's business objectives. The role requires a proactive approach to planning and optimizing customer engagements, ensuring that all resources are deployed effectively to support both provider and patient needs. The SHSS will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations while engaging with customers and managing sales efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement efficient virtual/in-person engagement strategies to maximize effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement business and territory call plans, adapting based on insights and opportunities.
  • Build rapport and relationships with customers across virtual and face-to-face environments.
  • Utilize digital tools effectively for customer engagement and adapt to new technologies as needed.
  • Engage key customers to grow business and drive product demand through education and insights.
  • Deliver targeted messaging to drive product demand and influence prescribing behavior.
  • Support patients' access to Pfizer products by providing relevant information to HCPs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to address customer inquiries and advance business objectives.
  • Plan and optimize day-to-day work based on personal and customer schedules.
  • Utilize analytics to develop insights and next best action plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/promotional/sales experience
  • Demonstrated leadership across peer groups in marketing, promotional, and sales roles
  • Strong territory management skills and a history of marketing or sales success
  • Outstanding communication skills and demonstrated teamwork and accountability
  • Valid US driver's license and a driving record in compliance with company standards

Nice-to-haves

  • 3-5 years of specialty marketing/promotional/sales experience
  • Strong knowledge of gastroenterology and rheumatology disease states and products
  • Experience with strategic account marketing and management skills
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with KOLs and assess needs of target physicians/accounts
  • Demonstrated track record of strong business acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with key thought leaders in large group practices or managed care organizations
