About the position
The Rig Electrician position at Chugach Alaska Services, LLC involves providing manual labor and support for various duties related to the rig floor. The primary responsibility of the electrician is to ensure that all operations of electrical rig components are conducted safely and in accordance with the manufacturers' specifications. This role requires the electrician to perform unscheduled repairs at the rig site and camp, ensuring that all electrical systems are functioning optimally. The electrician will also liaise with the Rig Manager, Driller, and Mechanic to schedule major overhauls of rig equipment, ensuring that all necessary maintenance is performed in a timely manner. In addition to maintenance and repair duties, the Rig Electrician is responsible for ensuring the availability of adequate spare parts for electrical equipment through the inventory system. This includes managing both routine maintenance supplies and those needed for unscheduled maintenance or replacements. The role demands a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to safety, as the electrician will be working in a challenging environment that requires adherence to strict safety protocols. The position is based in Cook Inlet, Alaska, and requires a strong background in electrical work, particularly in the drilling industry. The electrician must be prepared to work in high places for extended periods and be physically capable of climbing tall flights of stairs, working out of a riding harness, and lifting up to 50 lbs. The role is critical to the overall safety and efficiency of rig operations, making it essential for the electrician to possess a strong commitment to excellence and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that all operation of electrical rig components is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with the manufacturers' specifications.
- Carry out unscheduled repairs at the rig site and camp.
- Liaise with the Rig Manager, Driller, and Mechanic to schedule major overhauls of rig equipment.
- Ensure the availability of adequate spare parts for electrical equipment through the inventory system, both for routine maintenance and to cover unscheduled maintenance or replacements.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Journeyman card.
- Preferably 5+ years electrician experience in the drilling industry; entry level will be considered.
- Current 1st Aid, CPR certification, or willingness to undergo training once employed.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Possess hazard awareness necessary to operate safely within the drilling environment.
- Able to work in high places for extended periods of time.
- Ability to climb tall flights of stairs, work out of a riding harness, and lift 50 lbs.
- Must pass urinary drug screening.
