About The Position

The Rig Equipment Technician at Precision Drilling Corporation is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining oilfield equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves mechanical maintenance, repair, and inspection of equipment, as well as promoting a safe work environment and effective communication among team members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling drilling equipment.
  • Expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read equipment schematics with a strong understanding of symbols.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Proficiency with SAP for notifications, maintenance compliance reports, and work orders.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe and respectful work environment through open dialogue.
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs safely.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty mechanical equipment and tools.
  • Assist in maintaining and repairing equipment in other departments as needed.
  • Identify and respond to abnormal operating conditions and equipment patterns.
  • Perform CAT III & IV equipment inspections and document findings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in equipment repair and installation.
  • Maintain service reports and advise supervisors on equipment conditions and spare parts.
  • Implement recommendations from equipment audits issued by clients or regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure third-party equipment is fit for purpose.
  • Inform supervisors and department heads of technical problems affecting rig operations.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of service, maintenance, and operational reports.
  • Report incidents, potential hazards, or abnormal situations to supervisors.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area throughout tasks.
  • Apply the Safe Operations Verification card to all jobs and ensure safety roles are understood by all personnel.
  • Recognize at-risk behavior or conditions and call 'Time out for safety' when necessary.
