About the position

As a Right of Way Acquisition Services Project Manager at ms consultants, inc., you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing all activities related to Right of Way Acquisition for various federal, state, and local authorities, as well as private companies. This position is based in Columbus, OH, and reports directly to the Right of Way Technical Services Manager. You will collaborate closely with real estate staff, technical personnel, and clerical teams to ensure that all aspects of Right of Way Acquisition are executed efficiently and in compliance with relevant regulations and client requirements. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including the understanding and application of legal descriptions and Right of Way (R/W) and construction plans. You will be responsible for the preparation or management of title research, appraisals, and relocation assistance, as well as conducting negotiations and managing closings. Your expertise in R/W acquisition activities will be crucial, as you will ensure that all processes conform to the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisitions Act, along with state and local rules and regulations. In this role, you will plan, organize, and monitor projects from inception to completion, providing guidance and assistance to clients throughout the R/W acquisition process. You will manage staff and sub-consultants involved in the procurement of right of way parcels and project clearance, representing the ms Right of Way group in various meetings related to business development and project management. Additionally, you will prepare correspondence, reports, and budget requests, manage and track project budgets, and complete monthly invoices in collaboration with the accounting team. Your involvement will also extend to business development activities, where you will track project leads and meet with clients and property owners to review and manage projects related to Right of Way acquisition. Onsite visits will be part of your responsibilities, allowing you to inspect and appraise properties, negotiate terms, and provide relocation assistance benefits. You will also conduct title research at courthouses, attend closings, and manage utility construction and restoration to clear Right of Way corridors.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience managing Right of Way projects, including work with a state's Department of Transportation.
  • Full understanding of the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Act.
  • Prior experience with creating and maintaining project schedules and managing budgets.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Valid Driver's License.
