About the position

The RISE Career Coach (Bilingual) at Goodwill of Greater Washington is responsible for assisting team members in crisis management, skill development, and career planning. This role focuses on developing and implementing strategies to help associates achieve personal success while adhering to the organization's RISE values. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to provide tailored support to diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct private individual sessions to deliver workforce development services.
  • Perform assessments to identify needs, abilities, talents, and interests to develop personal and professional goals.
  • Assist team members in developing individual employment and support plans and action plans for career development.
  • Travel frequently to store locations for service delivery.
  • Refer team members to supportive services such as housing, food, financial, literacy, and mental health resources.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to team members, reinforcing progress and facilitating clear communication.
  • Apply core coaching principles to foster strong interpersonal relationships with team members.
  • Educate team members and supervisors on job accommodations and assistive technology as needed.
  • Research and analyze occupational, educational, and economic data to guide team members in achieving their goals.
  • Maintain accurate electronic case notes reflecting interactions and service plans for team members.
  • Provide ongoing support to team members until they reach their goals or discontinue services.
  • Ensure up-to-date information is maintained in the electronic case file database.
  • Assist in developing and delivering workshops for team members and managers.
  • Engage in outreach activities to community organizations to increase program visibility and recruit participants.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with the ability to speak and write in both languages.
  • Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation counseling, training and development, education, or a related field, or five or more years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • One or more years of experience providing career coaching.
  • Two or more years of direct related experience in providing life or career coaching to diverse populations.
  • Access to reliable transportation for service delivery and meetings.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of team members' information.
  • Demonstrated skill in applying life and career coaching theories and techniques.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a customer focus to meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Skill in active listening and interpersonal sensitivity.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to self-direct and work independently.
  • Critical thinking skills and flexibility in changing conditions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language.
  • Multi-lingual capabilities.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
