About the position

The Risk Advisor - Select Business Unit at Towne Insurance is a sales-oriented role focused on assisting clients in identifying their insurance needs and recommending appropriate coverage options. This position emphasizes building relationships with TowneBank branch affiliates and requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to understand client needs. The advisor will engage in various tasks including evaluating risks, crafting proposals, and maintaining documentation throughout the sales cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lead sources with Towne Bank personnel in various departments.
  • Provide consistent updates and communication to referral sources on the status of referrals.
  • Promote the Towne Bank and Towne Insurance vision within the community.
  • Evaluate risks and make coverage recommendations to clients.
  • Gather information from insured and other sources for quoting and proposal development.
  • Utilize various carrier rating systems and understand underwriting guidelines.
  • Complete Acord or company-specific applications.
  • Craft and present proposals to prospects over the phone.
  • Document the EPIC Management System promptly throughout the sales cycle.
  • Verify that all policies are bound with insurance companies in writing prior to or on the effective date of the policy.
  • Contact the insured to collect outstanding balances according to office procedures.
  • Work with Agency Account Managers to ensure all paperwork and billing requirements are complete.
  • Maintain an active P & C license and attend continuing education classes.
  • Attend office and company meetings as necessary.
  • Comply with federal laws and regulations relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML).

Requirements

  • Current VA Property Casualty License or Carrier experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous experience in insurance sales or customer service.
  • Proficiency in using insurance agency management software and Microsoft Suite.
  • Customer-focused mindset with adaptability to handle various situations.
  • Organized with the ability to multitask and self-motivated.
  • Detail-oriented with a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Proactive in problem-solving and pride in accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
