About the position

The Risk Analyst II - Credit Risk Analytics position at GM Financial focuses on analyzing credit risk exposure related to consumer and commercial loan and lease acquisition activities. The role involves conducting detailed analyses to mitigate credit risk, creating and monitoring credit policies, and measuring credit execution and structure. The analyst will also monitor credit performance across various regions and dealerships, requiring a creative mindset and attention to detail to navigate the evolving auto industry and strict financial regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze credit risk exposure related to consumer and commercial loan and lease acquisition activities.
  • Conduct analysis to mitigate credit risk and create/monitor credit policy.
  • Measure credit execution and credit structure.
  • Monitor credit performance by region, credit center, and dealership.
  • Utilize data mining and advanced spreadsheet skills to quantify credit risk related to loan and lease origination activities.
  • Summarize findings, develop recommendations, and present analyses to management in a clear and actionable format.
  • Employ best practices of data analysis and validation to ensure data results are accurate.
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of origination credit policies and procedures.
  • Understand how changes to origination credit policy and lending environment impact loan/lease volume and overall credit performance.
  • Proactively monitor and report changes in origination trends and portfolio performance to management.
  • Conduct ad hoc research projects incorporating project design, data collection, analysis, and presentation of results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, Business Analytics, MIS, or other quantitative field; degrees in non-quantitative fields considered with adequate work experience.
  • Master's Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, Business Analytics, MIS, or other quantitative field preferred.
  • 2+ years experience working with complex Excel workbooks, querying large multi-table datasets, data analysis, and data presentation.
  • Proficiency with SAS and/or SQL, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required.
  • 2+ years experience in consumer and/or commercial loan and lease origination analysis preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data warehouses, data mining, reporting, data analysis, and data visualization techniques.
  • Acute attention to detail and effective written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact collaboratively and proactively with internal customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of the metrics utilized in monitoring the performance of a consumer or commercial lending portfolio.
