About the position

The Risk Analyst Lead at USAA is responsible for leading risk management oversight for a line of business or staff agency, focusing on key risk identification, measurement, monitoring, control, and reporting. This role involves assessing and overseeing business exposures, driving understanding and management of risk through effective practices, and leading complex initiatives across multiple bank business functions. The position requires strong partnerships with various risk and control functions to ensure effective risk management and communication with executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Leads risk management oversight for a line of business or staff agency.
  • Drives understanding and management of risk through appropriate practices and processes.
  • Takes ownership of assessing and overseeing business exposures including key and emerging risks.
  • Monitors the risk and control environment and provides effective challenge to internal and external partners.
  • Raises and reports risks to the appropriate governance bodies.
  • Leads and drives complex initiatives and cross-functional teams within the Chief Risk Office.
  • Identifies and influences key partners across the Bank business executive leadership.
  • Presents findings and recommendations to various levels of leadership and management committees.
  • Creates and manages partnerships with the Bank and other risk and control functions.
  • Communicates results of oversight activities to governance committees and business process owners.
  • Develops processes and procedures for implementing new risk policies and practices.
  • Develops Bank risk tools and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report risks.
  • Applies expert knowledge and critical thinking to produce analytical insights.
  • Leads cross-functional teams to identify, assess, aggregate, and mitigate risk events.
  • Serves as the point of contact for senior risk leadership on projects and special management requests.
  • Formulates and reviews stress test plans for the bank and evaluates results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field, or 4 additional years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 8 years of risk management, regulatory or operations experience in a relevant functional area, or an advanced degree/designation in a relevant subject area and 6 years of work experience.
  • Advanced risk management experience in a complex institution or highly matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution management and ability to effectively challenge at all levels of management.
  • Experience leading and directing solution-oriented work with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and proven knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Proactively identifies potential concerns and follows up to resolve issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and supervisory guidance relevant to risk management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Regulatory Exams, Audits, Internal Risk Assessments, and Reviews.
