About the position

The Risk and Compliance Officer ensures organizational wide compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. Monitors, researches, analyzes and interprets relevant laws and regulations including consumer protection laws and regulations relating to Consumer Lending to ensure policies and practices comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Provides regulatory compliance guidance and acts as subject matter expert in support of the business units to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and regulatory guidance. This is not a remote position, only local candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Compliance program including Governance committees, Risk Assessments, Regulatory Development, Compliance Training Employees/board members, Compliance Monitoring, Compliance Audits, Findings Management, Policies and procedures, regulatory Management, and ongoing business and executive reporting.
  • Manage programs for Community Reinvestment Act, Conduct/Sales Practices, Fair Lending, Privacy, Vendor Management, Complaints program; all in alignment with the overall Compliance program.
  • Ensures products, services, operations, policies and procedures comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors, researches, and analyzes complex issues relating to governance and compliance including federal and state laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, court decisions, legal opinions, trade association guidance, and other resources, and employs technical compliance expertise to develop strategies for resolution of concerns.
  • Advises management and business units on requirements of applicable laws and regulations through written and oral analyses, reports and other communications.
  • Assists with internal compliance reviews and testing for consumer regulatory compliance, as well as internal InBank procedures. Recommends and partners with business units to develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports for the Company's Board of Directors to ensure that the Boards are kept fully informed of the Bank's Compliance Program.
  • Leads compliance efforts to implement new or changed compliance requirements.
  • Responds to various compliance inquiries from the organizations' business units.
  • Review and monitor Customer Complaints and respond to customers.
  • Manages the Compliance Analyst.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 Years work experience in consumer regulatory compliance, legal or operational risk management.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • CRCM Certification preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Team player with highly effective interpersonal skills, ability to work closely with internal business units and effective representation of organization positions on issues.
  • Experience in researching and analyzing complex laws and regulations, staff commentaries, legal opinions, court decisions and/or other documentation and the analysis of operations to determine and ensure compliance.
  • Ability to support and promote an effective, ongoing bank regulatory compliance program.
  • Thorough knowledge of pertinent areas of law outlined below.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex issues both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to act as the compliance lead in ongoing business unit projects.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple issues concurrently and to exercise independent judgment in establishing priorities.
  • Ability to organize work, make sound decisions and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to think strategically and advocate a proposed course of action while remaining flexible as circumstances change.
  • Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced environment with short deadlines and changing priorities.

  • Operational and/or compliance expertise relating to Community Reinvestment Act, Truth in Lending Act/Regulation Z, Unfair, Deceptive, Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP), Equal Credit Opportunity Act/Regulation B, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Military Lending Act, Electronic Funds Transfer Act/Regulation E, SAFE Act, ESIGN Act, privacy/GLBA, marketing rules, real estate lending regulations, real estate lending investor rules and guidelines and/or other consumer financial regulations.
