About the position
The position involves coordinating, planning, and implementing the day-to-day operations of the Risk Assessment Team within the Emergency Services department. The role focuses on ensuring that prospective services are linked to appropriate resources or care providers, with an emphasis on mental health and suicide risk assessments.
Responsibilities
- Assist in discharge plan development, providing support to the discharge planner as needed.
- Complete hospital-wide mandatory in-services and age-specific unit education requirements.
- Conduct suicide risk assessments within predetermined guidelines and integrate recommendations into treatment plans.
- Coordinate mental health and suicide risk assessments, consulting for at-risk patients and making appropriate referral recommendations.
- Develop initial treatment plans based on assessments and communicate these to the charge nurse and assigned staff upon patient admission.
- Coordinate admissions to the Behavioral Health Center through various departments and communicate patient status to the charge nurse.
- Develop and maintain positive partnerships with community providers of mental health and social services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Public Health, or a similar/relevant field required.
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification from the South Dakota Department of Social Services preferred.
