About the position

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Risk Assessment Scientist to join their Remediation and Compliance group. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver projects focused on environmental investigation, remediation, and compliance with state and federal regulations. The position emphasizes the use of advanced analytics and technology to solve complex environmental problems and develop sustainable solutions for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists to ensure delivery of accurate and timely work for clients and projects across the country.
  • Interact with clients, regulatory agency representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze and interpret data in support of human health and ecological risk assessment.
  • Evaluate and present environmental data in visual and written media.
  • Prepare environmental work plans and reports communicating objectives, methodologies, analyses, results, and recommendations.
  • Conduct field work including sampling, with travel up to 30%.
  • Manage multiple unique assignments simultaneously using strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Toxicology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a similar engineering field.
  • 5+ years of experience in risk assessment (or a master's level education) and 10+ years of experience in environmental consulting preferred.
  • Understanding and appreciation for chemistry and toxicology with strong quantitative skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with EPA risk assessment process, guidance, methods, and tools used for CERCLA and RCRA, as well as guidance, methods, and tools for State site remediation programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license with the ability to travel as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in field sampling methods through coursework or internships.
