About the position

The Risk Control Consultant at Brown & Brown Insurance is responsible for providing risk control services to key accounts, focusing on employee safety and compliance with various regulations. This hybrid position involves reviewing and improving clients' safety management programs, conducting OSHA inspections, and delivering training programs. The consultant will work closely with clients to enhance their safety efforts and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review clients' written Safety Management Programs and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist clients with specific questions on OSHA, DOT, ANSI, NCCI, and work comp laws.
  • Conduct research on legislative changes impacting clients and help them prepare for these changes.
  • Partner with producers on prospect visits to deliver value-added services from Risk Control.
  • Develop specific service plans based on each prospect's individual needs.
  • Work with carrier loss control personnel to meet client needs.
  • Deliver annually updated training programs on various safety topics.
  • Conduct in-depth Mock OSHA Inspections and prepare detailed reports for clients.
  • Manage production and distribution of large claims reports for clients.
  • Provide oversight and follow-up on large open claims.
  • Assist clients and adjusters in managing the claim process as needed.
  • Organize seminars and webinars on relevant topics for clients and prospects.
  • Provide assistance to Sales on RFPs and prospect presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with safety-related emphasis plus 1 year of workplace safety experience or 5 years of equivalent industry experience.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients and underwriters.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (C.S.P.), Occupational Health & Safety Technician (O.H.S.T), or Construction Health & Safety Technician (C.H.S.T).
