About the position

As a Commercial Bank Risk - Agency Lead Underwriter - Vice President at JPMorgan Chase, you will play a crucial role in assessing the credit worthiness of customers, properties, and markets for new loan originations. Your expertise in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily loans will be essential in analyzing transactions, identifying key risks, and ensuring efficient progression through the credit process. This position emphasizes independent analysis, collaboration with internal and external contacts, and mentoring junior team members, all while contributing to the firm's risk management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced credit skills and knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Affordable and Conventional underwriting guidelines to independently author concise, thoughtful analysis of transactions.
  • Work proactively with internal and external contacts to ensure efficient progression of new loan origination through the credit process.
  • Analyze due diligence documents and third party reports to develop a comprehensive understanding of collateral, cash flow, sponsor, and market risks.
  • Conduct site visits in compliance with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac standards.
  • Lead complex transactions including credit facilities, portfolios, and Forward transactions.
  • Train and mentor junior members of the Credit team.
  • Contribute to platform infrastructure and processes through special projects.

Requirements

  • BS or advanced degree with business focus.
  • Minimum of five plus years experience in commercial real estate which might include credit or structuring experience.
  • Significant CRE Multifamily knowledge.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a major corporate or commercial bank credit training program.
  • Experience in using CLOSER (Commercial Loan Origination Securitization Enterprise Reporting) system.
