About the position

The Risk Management Analyst will play a critical role in managing the corporate risk management and insurance program, focusing on claims management. This position requires close coordination with various departments to implement risk management policies and ensure the protection of the company's assets while minimizing liability exposures. The successful candidate will work independently and report directly to the Director of Risk Management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and compassionate care for work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Serve as an in-house liaison for employees, the organization, and the Third-Party Administrator (TPA).
  • Coordinate with local operational management to facilitate return-to-work objectives.
  • Monitor time missed from work due to work-related injuries and verify accuracy of information to meet Occupational Safety & Health Act requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date case records and notes in appropriate applications.
  • Analyze incidents/claims data to determine trends and assist Safety/Operations in improving trends.
  • Review medical providers and/or panels for compliance with state guidelines.
  • Work with the Director of Risk Management to authorize claim settlements and resolve claims.
  • Process and administer all Workers' Compensation claims, following up with injured employees for updates.
  • Manage Return To Work Roundtable/program to limit light duty positions to no more than 180 days.
  • Perform quarterly claims audits for the Workers' Compensation claims program.
  • Manage monthly WC Cost reporting to Business Units.
  • Assist the department with requests from Third-Party Administrators, legal representatives, or other outside parties.
  • Handle other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in managing workers' compensation claims including claims in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Professional designation (e.g., Associate in Claims (AIC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), or other related claims designations preferred).
  • Experience in union and non-union work environments.
  • Strong understanding of multi-state workers' compensation laws and regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize and react with appropriate levels of urgency to multiple situations, requests, and events.
  • Experience managing a remote workforce.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills that positively influence a wide audience.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in verbal and written communications.
