About the position

BB&E Inc is seeking a Risk Management Analyst to support its A&AS contract, specifically assisting NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic with facilities design and construction projects at NAVFAC LANT in Portsmouth, VA. The role involves a comprehensive approach to risk management, where the analyst will identify, analyze, track, and provide guidance on actions to manage and mitigate risks associated with various projects. The analyst will work closely with the GPMO/OICC during both the planning and design stages, as well as the construction stage of project execution, ensuring that risks are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle. In this position, the Risk Management Analyst will coordinate with program and project teams to facilitate the identification of risks, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility among stakeholders. The analyst will employ various techniques, including brainstorming sessions, interviews with experienced project participants, and root-cause analysis, to identify potential risks. Additionally, the analyst will develop risk identification checklists based on historical data and utilize SWOT analysis to further assess risks. The role requires the analyst to assist in recording identified risks in the program/project risk register, prioritizing them for further analysis based on their probability of occurrence and impact. The analyst will also utilize established matrices to classify risks and assist project managers in developing effective plans to mitigate these risks. Continuous monitoring of risks, analyzing trends, and updating process assets are essential components of this role, ensuring that risk management practices are integrated into the overall project management framework.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, analyze, track, record and provide guidance on actions to manage and mitigate risks.
  • Assist in the review of program and project risks during the planning and design stages of project development.
  • Coordinate with program and project teams to facilitate the identification of risks and develop ownership for risk response actions.
  • Guide efforts to identify project risks using brainstorming sessions and root-cause analysis.
  • Develop risk identification checklists based on historical information and knowledge from previous projects.
  • Utilize SWOT analysis to identify risks where appropriate.
  • Record identified risks in the program/project risk register to increase awareness over time.
  • Prioritize risks for further analysis or action by assessing probability and impact.
  • Utilize the Probability and Impact Matrix to rate risks and assign classifications.
  • Assist project managers in developing effective plans to lessen the impact of risks.
  • Categorize risks by sources, areas affected, or other useful categories.
  • Recommend appropriate responses for significant risks based on various factors.
  • Monitor efforts for new, changing, and outdated risks continuously.
  • Apply variance and trend analysis techniques during program/project execution.
  • Assist in controlling the risk process and executing contingency plans as necessary.
  • Monitor risk response owner's reports and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Update process assets, including lessons learned databases and risk management templates.
  • Monitor and analyze risk trends and variances.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated recent experience in risk identification, analysis, and management for similar projects.
  • Experience in cost control, quality control, and compliance with performance schedules.
  • Ability to apply analytical methods and techniques related to risks.
  • Experience in guiding and coordinating work in a matrix organization.
  • Skills in providing constructive feedback and knowledge of group dynamics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Primavera, and other relevant software.
  • Ability to adapt to new software as necessary.
  • Must be able to obtain security clearance as required.
  • Must be a United States citizen and able to travel.
