About the position

The Risk Management Coordinator at Manatee Memorial Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Risk Management in the planning and execution of risk management initiatives. This position requires a proactive approach to risk reduction and prevention strategies, demonstrating the ability to guide staff effectively. The coordinator will be responsible for handling Health Event data entry, assisting in the review, investigation, and follow-up of incidents, and compiling monthly and quarterly Midas data for reporting purposes. Additionally, the role involves managing claims activity and coordinating departmental organizational activities related to identified risk exposures, collaborating with attorneys, staff, and external agencies as necessary. The Risk Management Coordinator may also serve as the Risk Manager designee when required, ensuring that service excellence is maintained at all times. Other duties may be assigned as needed, reflecting the dynamic nature of the healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Risk Management in planning and coordinating the implementation of risk initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to staff in risk reduction/prevention strategies.
  • Handle Health Event data entry and assist with review, investigation, and follow-up.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly Midas data for reports.
  • Manage claims activity and departmental organizational activities for identified risk exposures.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and external agencies regarding risk exposures.
  • Serve as Risk Manager designee when needed.
  • Demonstrate Service Excellence at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in an acute care facility.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in Risk Management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong customer service skills, including in-person patient interactions.
  • Ability to prioritize time-sensitive documents.
