The Risk Management Coordinator at Trinity Health Michigan plays a crucial role in supporting the development, education, and sustainment of the Risk Management program. This position is essential in promoting a culture of safety within the organization, working closely with leadership and various departments to ensure accountability and effective risk management practices. The coordinator will report directly to the Risk Management Leadership and will engage frequently with all levels of management and department heads to foster an environment focused on safety and quality improvement. In this role, the Risk Management Coordinator will coordinate and administer systems for risk identification, investigation, and reduction. They will participate in the implementation of Trinity's TogetherSafe initiatives, which emphasize high reliability and zero harm. The coordinator will also assist in developing clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures that have risk management implications, ensuring that the organization adheres to best practices in risk management. The position requires the management of the electronic incident reporting system, where the coordinator will review and identify events that necessitate further follow-up, ensuring accurate documentation and data integrity. They will also train new file managers on facilitating event reports and utilize incident reporting data to recommend and implement risk reduction activities. Collaboration with management and staff is key, particularly in responding to serious safety events through root cause analysis and other methodologies. The coordinator will maintain risk management statistics and files, ensuring confidentiality and controlled access to sensitive information. Additionally, the Risk Management Coordinator will conduct educational programs related to risk issues for hospital and medical staff, assist in managing professional and general liability claims, and work with defense attorneys and claims managers to gather necessary information. They will also support Patient Relations in reviewing patient complaints related to clinical and risk issues, maintaining a constructive approach to conflict resolution and problem-solving.
