About the position

The Risk Management Director at CBRE is responsible for directing and providing overall strategic management of a global risk management team within a specific department or line of business. This role encompasses the overall risk and compliance controls, including reviews and audits, policies and procedures, as well as Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans. The director will develop, implement, and enforce compliance measures globally, ensuring that quality is maintained while mitigating risks to both clients and the company. A key aspect of this position involves managing relationships with external auditors on a global scale. In this role, the director will oversee the implementation and oversight of risk assessment and management across various segments, markets, and lines of business. It is crucial that the plans developed are comprehensive, cohesive, and effective on a global level. The director will scope, interpret, drive, and develop functional policies, procedures, and processes in partnership with business leaders. Communication is vital, as the director will ensure that any observations or issues are effectively communicated, remediated, and reevaluated. Additionally, the director will oversee and approve global compliance communications related to policy and procedure changes, as well as the Business Continuity Plan. This role requires coordination across lines of business globally and managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. The director will also educate and inform department and line of business leaders about risk management and operational risk strategies. The position involves championing global initiatives and partnering with auditors as necessary, while also soliciting, evaluating, and providing recommendations on potential risks that could affect regulatory compliance and the Business Continuity Plan. The director will establish strategic objectives and goals for the department and staff, monitoring and reporting on accomplishments, and will prepare and deliver presentations to various levels of management, including the Executive Risk Council and Leadership Conferences.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, JD, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in risk, controls, compliance, audits, and reporting.
  • Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a proactive approach.
  • Strong leadership skills to convey performance expectations and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to make effective presentations on complex topics to various audiences.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues.
