About the position

The Risk Management Director is a pivotal role responsible for directing all aspects of the organization's insurance program and risk management function. This position requires close coordination with leadership to ensure that risk management strategies align with organizational objectives and strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will support the long-term vision of the company while navigating change effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with DFSS business partners to define long-term risk management programs.
  • Determine the insurance structure between third-party insurers and captive utilization.
  • Develop reporting and analytics to ensure total cost of risk visibility.
  • Lead strategy discussions, negotiations, and placement of global insurance coverage.
  • Manage broker relationships and serve as the primary contact with insurance carriers.
  • Review risk-related and insurance-related contract provisions to avoid improper risk assumption.
  • Participate in the management and oversight of Dart's captive insurance company.
  • Aggregate and contextualize risk information for relevant stakeholders.
  • Drive a culture of risk awareness through process, people, and system changes.
  • Identify and quantify key and emerging risks to the organization.
  • Oversee agreements and performance of third-party service providers.
  • Support the VP of Risk and Audit in developing and overseeing Enterprise Risk Management projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business, finance, insurance, risk management or related field of study.
  • Advanced certification in Risk Management (e.g. CRM, ARM, CPCU, or other relevant professional certification) or a Master's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated advanced risk industry experience in captive insurance programs, commercial lines of property, casualty and workers' compensation programs, and claims management.
  • Demonstrated management experience including overseeing work, staff development, and performance management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to persuade and influence decision making.
  • Excellent analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including the ability to create complex spreadsheets or Power BI.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in business, finance, insurance, risk management or related field of study.
  • Experience leading managers.
  • Experience with high-deductible insurance programs and large claim portfolios across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing data-driven risk enterprise management programming integrating various technology tools and systems.
