Richmond National - Glen Allen, VA
posted 2 days ago
The Risk Management Intern will bring energy and creative insights to the company's risk management function. As a relatively young company, Richmond National Insurance continues to build out its risk management framework, policies, and procedures. Accordingly, the risk management intern will have the opportunity to participate in and contribute to that process from the ground up. To deeply engage with the risk management role, the intern will begin the summer with the risk management team and then, at the direction of the Chief Risk Officer, be immersed in a rotational program within various functions whose core purposes are to manage risk. Departments in the rotation will include finance and may also include legal and regulatory, claims, actuarial, and information technology functions. At each stop in the rotation, the intern will be assigned duties central to the function's risk management activities. For example, with finance the intern will analyze the company's credit risk, facilitate the company's annual fraud risk assessment, and analyze controls designed to prevent, or detect and correct, misstatements in the financial statements. Following each rotation, the intern will return to the risk management team to memorialize the experience by reviewing and refreshing the design and related documentation of the company's risk management framework. A successful person in this role will be proactive, attentive to details, extremely organized, and will communicate effectively while successfully demonstrating the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
