About the position

The Risk Management & Patient Safety Director will join a Magnet recognized medical center and work collaboratively with the Quality and Compliance departments. This 350+ bed hospital is well-established and key health resource in its community. This medical center is part of a well-respected health system in California which has been recognized for its commitment to high-quality patient care. The Risk Management & Patient Safety Director will report to the Vice President of Quality and Risk Management and will help lead an amazing team of Registered Nurses. The Nurse Leader will play a vital role in upholding quality standards and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Risk Management & Patient Safety Director will also be responsible for developing quality improvement initiatives and identifying risk factors. This position requires a proactive approach to risk management and patient safety, ensuring that the hospital meets all regulatory requirements and maintains the highest standards of care. The director will work closely with various departments to implement strategies that enhance patient safety and minimize risks associated with patient care. Responsibilities

  • Lead the Risk Management and Patient Safety initiatives within the medical center.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Compliance departments to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and assess risk factors associated with patient care.
  • Manage regulatory audits and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Registered Nurses in risk management practices.
  • Report to the Vice President of Quality and Risk Management.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with a valid license.
  • 5+ years of nurse leadership experience.
  • Experience in Risk Management and Patient Safety.
  • CPHRM certification preferred.
  • Experience using Team STEPPS.
