About the position

The Risk Management Specialist II at the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) is a pivotal role focused on managing and mitigating risks associated with unsafe working conditions, employee accidents, and potential claims against the corporation. This position is integral to ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, customers, and corporate assets by providing and coordinating the delivery of relevant information regarding the corporation's risk management policies and procedures. The specialist will work closely with department managers to promote safety and accident prevention programs, ensuring that all departments understand their responsibilities in these areas. In this role, the specialist will identify circumstances that could lead to claims or financial losses for AHFC and will examine alternatives to handle these risks effectively. The position involves developing, implementing, and monitoring employee safety and property conservation programs, conducting ergonomic analyses, and investigating repetitive motion claims. The specialist will also serve as a liaison with the corporation's insurance broker regarding various insurance matters, assist with annual insurance renewals, and coordinate comprehensive safety inspections and training programs in compliance with OSHA standards. The Risk Management Specialist II will maintain accurate records of all claims against the corporation, including workers' compensation and general liability claims, and will oversee vehicle accident investigations. This role requires a proactive approach to safety inspections, incident reporting, and compliance with ADA requirements. The specialist will also be responsible for maintaining real property records and ensuring that adequate insurance and indemnity language is included in all applicable contracts and agreements. Overall, this position is essential for fostering a safe working environment and protecting the corporation's interests.

Responsibilities

  • Manage efforts to prevent and reduce risks of loss related to unsafe working conditions, employee accidents, or claims against AHFC.
  • Provide and coordinate delivery of information about risk management policies and procedures to all departments.
  • Administer safety and loss control programs, conduct claims research, and make recommendations regarding risk management activities.
  • Identify circumstances that could cause claims or financial loss to AHFC and examine alternatives to handle risks.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor employee safety and property conservation programs.
  • Perform ergonomic analysis of workstations and investigate repetitive motion claims.
  • Serve as a liaison with the insurance broker regarding insurance matters including automobile, property, liability, and workers' compensation.
  • Assist with AHFC's annual insurance renewal process.
  • Coordinate comprehensive safety inspections and training programs in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Maintain and secure a central file of corporate contracts, agreements, and titles.
  • Collect and maintain certificates of insurance as required to meet contract requirements.
  • Monitor records of all corporate incidents related to hazardous waste and materials compliance.
  • Conduct safety inspections of AHFC facilities and prepare safety reports.
  • Maintain real property records and assist with documentation for repairs or sales of corporate-owned real estate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with emphasis in Business Administration, Risk Management, Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in the administration of safety programs, compliance audits, records management, claims management, or asset management.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license and clean driving record.

Nice-to-haves
