About the position

Capital One's Governance, Valuations, & Innovation (GV&I) Team is a second line of defense function within the Credit Risk & Analytics (CR&A) Division. This division is responsible for Risk Governance, Risk Appetite, Credit Risk Policy, and Assurance Exam Management activities for the Commercial Bank. The GV&I team plays a critical role in establishing a foundation for sound risk management practices, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulations, and fostering the overall culture of Capital One. We are currently seeking a Manager-level associate who has a proven track record in executing risk management processes and enhancing efficiencies through continuous improvement, utilizing data and technology effectively. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders across various functions including Lines of Business, Product, Data, Technology, and Risk. Your primary focus will be on enhancing risk governance, controls, processes, and assurance practices, implementing strategic and transformative changes for the Bank. This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth and exposure to senior management. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and influencing skills, enabling them to engage effectively with partners across multiple functional areas and organizational levels. Additionally, you will support the delivery of GV&I's change program, which includes simplifying policies and addressing assurance findings. Partnering with various teams, you will work to create efficiencies while maintaining robust controls and oversight. You will also be responsible for formulating and implementing solutions, leveraging technology wherever possible, and promoting GV&I's learning culture by facilitating continuous learning activities and team interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Administrating real estate valuation processes, systems, and data through day-to-day management and continuous improvement.
  • Providing business insights and reports that enable stakeholders to make data-supported decisions.
  • Supporting delivery of GV&I's change program, including simplification of policies and remediation of assurance findings.
  • Partnering with the Lines of Business, Product, Data, Technology, and Risk to create efficiencies without compromising on controls and oversight.
  • Formulating and implementing solutions, leveraging technology as much as possible.
  • Promoting GV&I's learning and culture by facilitating continuous learning activities and team interactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in risk management.
  • At least 2 years of experience in business analytics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Self-starter with a background in Financial Services.
  • Understanding of commercial banking activities and the three lines of defense framework.
  • Strong data analytical skills and data management processes.
  • Experience creating business insights and reports using analytical and data platforms (e.g., Quicksight, Snowflake) and structured query language (SQL).
  • Experience in structuring and executing change plans across an organization's complexities and managing stakeholders through the change.
  • Independent problem-solving and discretion.
  • Aptitude for synthesizing complex issues into a clear and concise summary.
  • Proactive and results-oriented.
  • Ability to establish credibility, trust, and support within all levels of the organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
