About the position

The Risk Manager - Insurance Claims and Policy Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing the procurement of insurance policies and bonds, ensuring that coverage aligns with the organization's needs. This role involves overseeing renewals, claims handling, and the performance of a captive insurance company, while also serving as the primary contact for outside legal support on litigated claims. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage risk management software and collaborate with other managers to enhance business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the procurement of insurance policies and bonds, ensuring coverage aligns with organizational needs.
  • Manages renewals, subrogation, and claims handling for various lines of insurance, including Property, General Liability, and Professional lines.
  • Assists in the management of the performance of wholly owned captive insurance company.
  • Serves as primary contact with outside legal support for litigated claims and legal guidance.
  • Schedules and attends insurance inspections with carriers upon request.
  • Ensures deadlines for responses are adhered to for open litigation.
  • Supports the onboarding and management of risk management software (Origami).
  • Troubleshoots and collaborates with other managers to problem solve and advance processes.
  • Establishes annual budget for insurance programs.
  • Ensures timely communication of high risk and potential liability exposures to executives.
  • Supports Risk Management team in special projects and corporate governance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four year college/university in business or related field.
  • Solid experience in risk management and insurance with knowledge of insurance underwriting, policy procurement, and claims handling.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Excel.
  • Required to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Time management and multi-tasking expertise.
